Notes from the studio

Choosing a chair that stays quiet

A good dining chair disappears into the room until someone sits down. We look for a light frame, a seat that does not shine, and a back that supports without shouting.

A sofa colour that lasts past the season

Slate, clay and warm grey hold daylight better than pure white and hide the life of a living room without looking dull.

Tables should show the floor

A dining table or side table feels lighter when the base is simple and the top is the only thing you notice.
