Tables should show the floor
We prefer a single pedestal or a thin bent-ply shelf to a forest of legs. Walnut brings warmth to a white room; pale plywood keeps a darker interior from feeling heavy. Leave at least seventy centimetres of clear walkway on the side people use most. A round coffee table is easier in a narrow lounge because nobody catches a corner. Match the wood once, then stop. Too many timber species in one room start to look like a showroom.
